I reverted recently and had the opportunity to observe a name giving ceremony. During the ceremony the baby’s head was made wet with water. This reminded me of the Christian practice of baptism. Can you please tell me the significance of wetting the baby’s head?

Washing the head of a child without any reason carries no significance. And if it resembles the Christian rituals then it is wajib to give it up.
