Assalamualaikum, I have seen people, specially Aalim in Mauritius placing Qur’an on the footsteps of the Mimbar(where the Imam puts his feet & where He sit) Is it allowed mufti sb? Jazakallah
Answer:
(Fatwa: 158/158/M=1432)
It is required etiquette to recite the holy Quran placing it on juzdan, cover, pillows etc. Do not put it at a place, which are trampled by feet but with cover or pillow. (Fatawa Mahmoodiah, Vol. 7, p. 16, published by: Maktaba Mahmoodiayah Meerut)
It is mentioned in Hindiyah:
لا يلقى في موضع يخل بالتعظيم . (هنديه 5/324)
