Assalamualaikum This is regarding Zakat on Plots. I am currently staying in Hyderabad for job in a rented house paying a rent of 4000 per month. My family own two plots in my native along with a house in which they reside. We have kept those 2 plots with the intention of either 1. we will sell them if very urgent or important need arises OR 2. we will sell them to buy a plot or flat in Hyderabad. Will we need to pay zakat on our 2 plots?? Thanks AH

If both the plots are ancestral then there is not zakah on their value due to the said intention. Or you have purchased them and at that time your intention was not of selling them but it was to keep for your personal need and later on you made the said intention, then too there is no zakah on the value of the plots. Yes, zakah shall be wajib on them if you had purchased them only with the intention of selling.
