Assalamualaikum Varahmatullah Mufti Sa’b, My question is regarding to colour hair with different types of mahendi and colour mate.In Today’s era people use different types of mahendi,coluor mate and other products in order to colour their hair. I have overheard that some chemicals are used in such products. These chemical are water proof which do not let hair wet with water and our Bath remains uncomplete and ultimately we are not in position to offer namaz, reading of quran and all other ahkams for which Taharat is must. So colouring our hair with such coluor mate and other di products is permissible? pls focus on the matter in the light of quran and hadith. Jazakallah

The hearsay information are not reliable, until it is clearly proved that some such products prevent water from reaching to the skin, then these products will not be allowed to be used; therefore you have to be sure of:
ذکر فی المحیط: ان کان علی ظاھر بدنہ جلد سمک او خبز ممضوغ قد جف واغتسل و توضأ ولم یصل الماء الی تحتہ لم یجز، الی ان قال: اذ المعتبر فی جمیع ذلک نفوذ الماء ووصولہ الی البدن [کبیری: 48]
