Can Muslims trim their beards?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
Are Muslims allowed to trim the sides of the beard (sideburns, upper cheek and stray long hairs)?

Answer

(Fatwa: 840/841=J)

The raised bone below ears is the starting point of beard; therefore the sideburns fall in beard and it is not allowed to shave or trim them below one fist. The hairs on cheeks are not from beard; therefore they can be shaved, but it is better to avoid it also. As far as the matter of stray long hairs is concerned they can be trimmed as long as they are one fist.
