How can a Muslim learn more about other religions without violating Islamic teachings?

I am from New Delhi and I am a Muslim. Can I read Gospel or Torah for know more about Judaism or Christianity.

In order to know Judaism and Christianity study books written by Ahl Haq Ulama on relevant topics. It is difficult to know Judaism and Christianity by studying the distorted Torah and Injil. If you are not well acquainted with comparative religions and you have not studied about the true and false nations in details and you do not know how to refute their false views then there is fear that you may go astray. It is recorded in a hadith:

عَنْ جَابِرٍ أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ – رضي الله عنه – أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم- بِنُسْخَةٍ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، هَذِهِ نُسْخَةٌ مِنَ التَّوْرَاةِ ، فَسَكَتَ فَجَعَلَ يَقْرَأُ وَوَجْهُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم- يَتَغَيَّرُ ، فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : ثَكِلَتْكَ الثَّوَاكِلُ ، مَا تَرَى مَا بِوَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم-. فَنَظَرَ عُمَرُ إِلَى وَجْهِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ – صلى الله عليه وسلم – فَقَالَ : أَعُوذُ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ غَضَبِ اللَّهِ وَمِنْ غَضَبِ رَسُولِهِ ، رَضِينَا بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا وَبِالإِسْلاَمِ دِيناً وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ -صلى الله عليه وسلم- :« وَالَّذِى نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ لَوْ بَدَا لَكُمْ مُوسَى فَاتَّبَعْتُمُوهُ وَتَرَكْتُمُونِى لَضَلَلْتُمْ عَنْ سَوَاءِ السَّبِيلِ ، وَلَوْ كَانَ حَيًّا وَأَدْرَكَ نُبُوَّتِى لاَتَّبَعَنِى ». رواه الدارمي. (المشكاة: باب الاعتصام بالكتاب والسنة)
