Can wife take items from father-in-law’s house against husband’s wishes per Quran/Hadith?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I have told my wife so many times not to receive anything from my father-in-laws’ house whether it is eatable or anything but she is not listening to me by saying that I will receive it ,you can’t forbid me. I want to know in the light of Quran and Hadith the act of my wife is allowed or not allowed. If it is not allowed then what punishment would be given to her. Give the details with evidence .

(Fatwa: 617/617/SD=11/1436)

A wife should only speak about her necessities to her husband. If a wife puts her demand in front of her family members while bypassing her husband then usually it creates difference and tension among the spouses. Hence the wife should not do so. However, if your in-laws give something to your wife on their own then you must not stop your wife to accept it.
