Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta Azaadville

Question:

What is the ruling with regards to a Daith Piercing?

A Daith piercing is an ear piercing that passes through the ear’s innermost cartilage fold, the crus of the helix.. According to the medical fraternity in some way it was supposed to assist with headaches.

Answer:

Women generally pierce theirears with the intention of adorning themselves with earrings. The jurists havementioned that this is totally permissible and there is no prohibition in thisregard even if the ear is pierced more than once.

Piercing is generally carriedout on the outer portion of the ear hence the permissibility of piercing willbe confined to the outer ear.  However,if your question pertains particularly to medical treatment, as you have statedin your query; that it is to assist with headaches, and this is the onlytreatment that proves beneficial, then there is no harm in adopting the saidprocedure. However, if it is carried out purely with the intention ofadditional adornment, then there is no need for such a procedure as externalpiercing will suffice for the said objective.
