I am 49 years old muslim woman. I converted to Islam 5 years ago and my dies passed away (Christian) about 7 years ago and he was creamated at the time and he ash was kept in a container with my mother.  Now in memory of my dad, my sisters (they are Christian) and I would like to spell his ash on his favorite lake. Would you please advise if I could participate in this event? As a muslim woman, can I still do that? and if not please let me know why and what the consequences could be.

Assalaamu `alaykum waRahmatullahi Wabarakatoh

It is not permissible for you to participate in this event. We do understand the sensitivity around you not participating in this event. You should apply wisdom in preserving your Islamic values in such a situation.

And Allah knows best
