Logical reason of the prohibition of tattoos.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

why Tattoos are not permissble is Islam ?? Is it Haram to have Tattoos ??

Can you please send me the logical explanation in this regard …

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

Tattooing is Haram.

Nabi Sallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam has mentioned:

صحيح البخاري (6/ 147)

لَعَنَ اللَّهُ الوَاشِمَاتِ وَالمُوتَشِمَاتِ

Translation: curse be upon those who does tattoo and those who has been tattooed.

For us as Muslims, we suffice on the order of Allah and His Rasul Salla Alay Wa Sallam. We do not condition our adherence to Allah and His Rasasul Salla Alay Wa Sallam based on our logic. We believe every order of Shari’ah is for our benefit and every prohibition is meant to avert harm from us.

Nevertheless, tattoos are detrimental to one’s health. They cause allergic reactions and skin infections such as melanomas[1]
