Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

Please clarify if Zakath is to be paid on hte profit of the total produceed grains or 10 and 5% respectively of the total produce depending on rain dependent or not. The reason for this question is inspite of 100 produce is sold if I incure loss, how can I pay Zakath.

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

You are probably referring to the concept of Ushr through the 10% and 5% proceeds of the crops. If so, inform us which country you are referring to and is Ushr payable there.

Also, enlighten us if you farm and grow your crops with the intention of tijārat (business) or not? You may email your response to admin@daruliftaa.net titled “Clarification on Ushr Query”.
