Was the fall of Basrah among the predictions of Prophet Muhammad s.a.w.s.?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org
Answer

A city by the name of Basra did not exist in the era of Nabi (S.A.W). Nabi (S.A.W) also did not prophesize its fall. The place where Umar (R.A) had camps set up in Iraq for the Mujahideen is called Basra. This area eventually developed into a big city. (Tareekh-e- Islaam by Moulana Akbar Shah Khan, Vol. 1, Page 386.)

The Hadith stating that Nabi (S.A.W.) sent a letter to Hiraqal, makes mention of a city by the name of BUSRA which forms a part of Egypt. (Fathul Baari, Vol. 1, Page 38.)
