1. Plz let me know the correct spelling of the below name & meaning of the same Jazak Allah khair.
Tameem or Tamim
Can we write Muhammad Tameem or Tamin.
2. History of Banu Tamim.
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.
- تميم may be written as Tameem or Tamim. Both are correct.
- Tameem means perfect, complete, one with a good stature.[1]
- It is also the name of a sahabi, Hazrat Tameem al-Dari (May Allah be pleased with him).
- It is permissible to prefix one’s name with Muhammad to attain barakah.[2]
Consider the following Ahadith regarding the Tribe of Banu-Tamim:
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ عُمَارَةَ بْنِ الْقَعْقَاعِ ، عَنْ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : لاَ َ أَزَالُ أُحِبُّ بَنِي تَمِيمٍ بَعْدَ ثَلاَثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَقُولُهَا فِيهِمْ هُمْ أَشَدُّ أُمَّتِي عَلَى الدَّجَّالِ وَكَانَتْ فِيهِمْ سَبِيَّةٌ عِنْدَ عَائِشَةَ فَقَالَ أَعْتِقِيهَا فَإِنَّهَا مِنْ وَلَدِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ وَجَاءَتْ صَدَقَاتُهُمْ فَقَالَ هَذِهِ صَدَقَاتُ قَوْمٍ ، أَوْ قَوْمِي
Narrated Abu Huraira:
I have not ceased to like Banu Tamim ever since I heard of three qualities attributed to them by Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) (He said): They, out of all my followers, will be the strongest opponent of Ad-Dajjal; `Aisha had a slave-girl from them, and the Prophet (ﷺ) told her to manumit her as she was from the descendants of (the Prophet) Ishmael; and, when their Zakat was brought, the Prophet (ﷺ) said, “This is the Zakat of my people.”[3]
عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ ثَلاَثُ خِصَالٍ سَمِعْتُهُنَّ مِنْ، رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي بَنِي تَمِيمٍ لاَ أَزَالُ أُحِبُّهُمْ بَعْدُ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِهَذَا الْمَعْنَى غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ “ هُمْ أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ قِتَالاً فِي الْمَلاَحِمِ ” . وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الدَّجَّالَ .
Abu Huraira reported:
There are some distinguishing features of Banu Tamim which I heard from Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) and my love for them is never on the decline after that and the words are: They are the bravest amongst people in the battlefield and there is no mention of (the word)” Dajjal”.[4]
