Signatory of a Muslim for a church

respected mufti saheb

the building next to a muslims house has been sold to christians, they want to open a church there and by law they require a signature from the muslim,  is it permissible for the muslim to  sign for the opening of the church?

Answer

In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.

As-salāmu ‘alaykum wa-rahmatullāhi wa-barakātuh.

If the neighbour is required by law or compelled to sign a no objection document for opening a church, he will be excused for doing so.1
