Can one punish himself according to the Islamic law?

Dear Imam… I want to ask that whether it is allowed for a man to punish himself as islamic law suggest him the punishment for his sin? Espcially in an unislamic country? e.g Can one cut his own hand as the punishment of theift?

Answer

Hudood (Islamic law of punishment) is conducted only in an Islamic state
with the order of the Haakim (supreme ruler) or Qaadhi (Judge).
