There are different types of promises in Shari’ah. They can be categorized
as follows:
Yameen – to take an oath to prohibit a permissible thing or act by taking
the name of Allah.
Nazr – to make compulsory upon oneself a permissible act.
Wa’dah – general promise

clear ruling could be given.
