Qada Salat After Fajr and Asr

By Mufti Ebrahim Desai

Q.) I am 21 years old and have not prayed for a total of about 3 years since prayer became farz on me, i.e. since my adulthood. I wanted to make up for these prayers. I try to pray after each prayer with the intention for missed salat of the same kind. But I feel uncomfortable praying qada after fajr and asr. Someone told me that it is makrooh to pray after these two salats. Please tell me know what should I do. Can I pray Qada after these two Salats. [Hassan Ahmad Mian]

A.) It is permissible to make Qadhaa after Fajr and after Asr Salats until the sun loses its glow, that is when one is unable to look at the sun directly. Once the sun loses its glow, makrooh time sets in and one cannot make qadha salat at that time. (Tahtaawi)
