Conditions for the validity of a nikaah

Q:

1. If a guy proposed for a girl, will it be consider as nikaah?
2. If a girl is proposed for by a guy then what should the girl say to him (as per islamic opinion)?

A:

1. In order for the nikaah to be valid, it is a requirement that a proposal as well as an acceptance be found in the same gathering in the presence of at least two male baaligh sane muslims or one male and two female baaligh sane muslims. If this requirement was not found, the nikaah will not take place.
2. It is impermissible for a boy and girl to have any contact (meeting, speaking, etc) prior to nikaah.
