Looking at one’s spouse after death

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I want to know can spouses touch, see each other or perform Ghusal after death of any one of them, as I have heard that as soon as one of them die Nikkah gets canceled and no one can touch or see dead body of other partner?

A: They can see the face of each other and the wife may also touch the husband. But the husband should abstain from touching the wife as far as possible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.

ويمنع زوجها من غسلها ومسها لا من النظر إليها على الأصح وهي لا تمنع من ذلك (تنوير الأبصار 1/633)
