Spitting and Qiblah: Rules to Follow

Q:

  1. If we have to spit we are ordered to spit on the left side but we are also ordered not to spit in the direction of qiblah. What is the ruling when we are walking and the qiblah is to our left? Can we spit to the left in that case?
  2. How to spit in a place where we don’t know the direction of the qibla. Can we spit to the left in that case?

A: Intentionally one should not spit in the direction of the qiblah. However, if one did not have knowledge and spat in the direction of the qiblah, one will not be taken to task by Allah Ta’ala.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
