Assalamoalaikum Warahmatullah Wabarakatuh
Alhamdulillah, I am a recent revert to Islam, however my family is still hindu. When a significant event takes place in my family, I am invited and expected to attend. For example, at weddings, births, funerals etc.
My family have grudgingly accepted the fact that I am a Muslim and so I am not expected to attend temple on a religious basis. However in the instance of these types of events ceremonies such as the bride and groom circling the fire and the cremation at death, my family expect me to be there.
For me not to attend these events would cause great division within the family. For fear of exarcebating the situation with my family, I am currently attending (but not participating in any aspect of) the ceremonies.
Please advise.
