Answered by Shaykh Faraz Rabbani
Will those whom the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) turns away from the Pool (hawd) in the Hereafter ever drink from it?
In the Name of Allah, Most Merciful and Compassionate
May Allah’s peace and blessings be upon His Messenger Muhammad, his folk, companions, and followers
Walaikum assalam wa rahmatullah,
Barak Allahu feekum. This is a good question.
Imam Bajuri explains in his commentary on Imam Laqani’s Jawharat al-Tawhid, Tuhfat al-Murid, that the outward expression of some texts would seem to imply that all the wrongdoers will be turned away from the Pool, and that they’ll never drink from it.
However, he states that the way of verification is that those turned away from the Pool are of two types:
- Those who will be turned away and prevented, and this is for disbelievers–and they shall never drink from the Pool of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him);
- Those who will be turned away as a form of punishment, and then allowed to drink, and this is for sinful believers before they enter Paradise according to the sound position. [Bajuri, Tuhfat al-Murid `ala Jawharat al-Tawhid, 304]
And Allah alone gives success.
Wassalam,
