I am a software engineer and paying Rs. 50000/- as a income tax to the govt. of india. Can we adjust paid tax amount in payable zakat amount.

The amount paid in tax will not be counted as zakah. You should calculate zakah and pay it. It is necessary to give zakah to any poor and make him possess it. The paid tax amount can not be adjusted as zakah.
