my question is about divorce. me and my wife got married secretly.our parents wont agree. so i thought i send my wife back to her parents and i go back to my parents we would make them understand and make them accept our maarige. but my wife parents said if she come home she will have to bring the divorce papers. i swear to Allah i didnt wanted to give her divorce. but when i went to get the divorce paper the guy in the office told me to sign so i sign. but i wasnt signing the papers as if i was giving divorce i swear. i gave these papers to her father and there was 2 witness and mufti sahab. he didnt tell me to say talaq 3 times. please help me i love my wife very much. i want her back. one more thing when i sign the papers does my wife had to be there cause she wasnt. please help me.thank you

Answer

The divorce has come into effect. (Radd al-Muhtaar vol.4 pg.456; Ilmiyah).

The number of Talaaqs will be in accordance to what is written in the document that you signed. It is not necessary for the wife’s presence when signing divorce documents. (Ibid)
