Is the Area Between the Chin and Neck, the Beard?

Question:

Is the area between the chin and the neck (bottom of the face) classed as the beard? The part is getting extremely messy and looks odd, as my face hair is pretty sparse whilst the area mentioned, is grown quite a bit so I was wondering if it could be trimmed?

Yes, the hair in the area underneath the chin up to the throat is considered part of the beard and should be grown. To trim it slightly, for neatness, nearer to the throat is allowed. – (See: Al-Fatāwā Al-Hindīyyah, Vol 5, Page 358, Dār Al-Fikr[1], Al-Baḥr Al-Rāi’q, Vol 1, Page 16, Dār Al-Kitāb Al-Islāmīy[2])

The Messenger of Allāh (peace and blessings be upon him) instructed [muslim men], “Trim closely the moustaches, and grow the beards!” – (Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim 260)[3]

Only Allāh knows best.
