Saying: “Cross my Heart” When Promising

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by DarulUloomTT.net

Q: Aslaam alaikum

If a Muslim says ‘cross my heart’ when promising with no intention of Kufr. Doe this make the person a non Muslim?
The muslim maybe could have said this as a joke, or just happen to say it.

He Has no intention of Kufr and loves Islam alot.

Jazakalah

A: Wa alaikum As Salaam,

No, this person will not be non-Muslim or a kafir. However, in future he should not do this. This is not an Islamic practice.

And Allah Knows Best.
