Question:

Assalaamu Alaikum,

I purchased some goods from Makkah after confirming prices with the supplier. I sent the funds to the supplier close to 1 month now and they said that the order has been forwarded to export department and when they are ready with the order they will send me the tracking details of the shipment.

When I enquired about the order today they informed me that they will ship out my order by tomorrow however some of the prices have increased and they will send me the shipment but I have to make arrangements to remit the difference to them. What is the ruling in this situation regarding this increase in price after payment has been made?

Answer:

Wa Alaikum as Salaam,

From what you have stated, it shows that the sale has been concluded.

The price has been confirmed by the supplier and you have paid these. Hence, it is not permissible for the supplier to increase the prices after the sale has been concluded and payments have been made in accordance to the agreement between you and the supplier.

And Allah knows best,
