Question

Is placing the nose on the floor wajib in Sujuud?

In Bahishti Zewar and Talimul Islam, it’s not mentioned as wajib and also in the chapter Sajda Sahw it’s not mentioned.

Please tell me if its wajib why it’s not mentioned in the books placing the nose on the floor wajib in Sujuud?

Answer:

The prostration (sujud) in salah is a compulsory (Fardh) action. Placing the nose on the area of prostration is Sunnah. Therefore, if someone does a prostration (sujud) with the forehead and does not place the nose on the ground, it will be valid and there is no need of a Sajdah Sahw (compensating prostration).

But it is disliked (Makrooh) to do so without a necessity.[1]
