Nikaah via social media or video call

Q: Can one perform Nikah telephonically, or via any other form of social media i.e skype, telephone, video chat, or video call? Is this permissible?

Bismillaah

A: The simple way of nikaah is that if for some reason the girl is not in the same place then after obtaining her permission, the boy may get the nikaah done in the presence of at least two adult male muslims.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
