When Laughter and Empathy Clash: My Struggle with Inappropriate Reactions.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: If something bad happens to someone then I laugh. I know in my mind that it is bad but I can’t control it.

Bismillaah

A: It is impermissible to laugh at people as this causes embarrassment to them. This has been prohibited in the Qur’an and Hadith. You should reflect and ponder over the fact that if the same had to happen to you and others had to laugh at you, how would you take it.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
