The disciples of Hazrat Esa (Alayhis Salaam)

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Please advise:

1. What is our belief about the ‘Twelve Disciples’ mentioned in Christianity? Their names are given as follows: Peter, Andrew, James, John, Phillip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Thaddeus, Simon, and Judas Iscariot.

2. What is our belief about ‘Paul the Apostle’?

Bismillaah

A:

1. Christianity has gone through a lot of distortions and changes. There is mention of disciples in the Qur’aan, but their account is not given. Hence, we believe that Esa (alaihis salaam) had disciples and this belief is sufficient.

2. Paul was not an apostle, but he came to distort Christianity.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
