Is a widow entitled to a share from her deceased father in laws wealth, if he has added her husband in his will (despite the husband being deceased)?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Askimam.org

My husband passed away 4 years ago, his wealth was not distributed. A few months ago my father-in-law passed away, leaving for sons behing. I wanted to know whether or not me and my children are entitled to a share of his wealth as in his willhe has stated that his wealth should be distributed between all FIVE brothers, even though one has passed away. Jazakallah!

Answer

A widow is not entitled to a share from her late father-in-law’s estate. She will be a heir of her husband’s estate only. and Allah Ta’ala Knows Best Mufti Ebrahim Desai FATWA DEPT.
