Is the Hadith about Prophet Adam’s pardon accurate?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Darulifta-Deoband.com
I want to know whether the Hadith related to Prophet Adam, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, being pardoned by Allah when he made dua with the help of wasilah of Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, correct, as in the Quran the complete dua after which Prophet Adam, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, was pardoned is given.

(Fatwa: 493/493/SD=09/1436)

A Hadith states that Prophet Adam, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, supplicated through the mediation of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. It is recorded in al-Bidaya wa al-Nihaya, Chapter: Ma Warada Fi Khalq Adam. Imam Baihaqi has termed this Hadith as weak, but the weak Hadiths related to virtues are also acceptable.
