My grandfather and mother are dead, my mum tells me to read the Quran for them, is this allowed? If not why?

As Muslims, we believe in Isaal-e-Sawaab (sending reward) for the deceased
by performing virtuous acts, for example, reciting Qur’aan, giving charity,
etc.

The deceased benefits from the rewards sent to them.
