Who should be present when giving ghusal to the deceased?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: When performing ghusal for the deceased, who should be present? At times people come in as spectators.

Bismillaah

A: It is best that the family of the deceased take part in the ghusal. However, if for some reason they are not present or they require assistance from others, then others may assist in carrying out the ghusal. If the family of the deceased does not approve of people other than those taking part in the ghusal being present, then they should be politely informed that they should not be present.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
