Performing circumcision before the seventh day

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: On a birth of a boy the doctor have advised that they can perform the khatna the day after the birth before the child is released from hospital. Is this allowed or do you need to do it on the 7th day?

Bismillaah

A: Doing it on the seventh day is just a preference. If the doctors feel that they can do it the same day and it may not hurt the child in any way then it will be permissible.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
