Informing the donor that one in not eligible for zakaat

Q: If someone gives me zakaat thinking I am eligible but I’m actually ineligible, should I return the money or keep it?

Bismillaah

A: You should return it to him and inform him that you are not eligible for zakaat.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
