Can you please describe what is Durood-e-Mohammadi? Also can you please tell us what is its history and benefits of reading it?

The words of Durood-e-Mohammadi have been documented in some books as follows:
اللہم صل علی سیدنا محمد وعلیٰ آل سیدنا محمد عبدک ورسولک النبی الامی بعدد انفاس الخلائق صلاۃ دائمۃ بدوام خلق اللہ۔
Upon diligent research we were unable to find these words or its virtues in the books of ahadith. Although reading this druood is correct but one should prefer reading those duroods which Rasulullah Sallallaho Alyhi Wasallam has read and have been proven and documented to be his words.
