Assalamualaikum,
Gasoline contains alchohol: ethanol, methanol. What is the ruling on these alchohols used therein?

The ‘Ulama have allowed external usage of petrol and those items in which the alcohol prepared from petrol is mixed, however, it’s better to avoid.
یجوز رفع نجاسۃٍ حقیقیۃٍ عن محلہا بماء ولو مستعملاً وبکل مائعٍ طاہرٍ قالعٍ للنجاسۃ ینعصر بالعصر۔ (التنویر مع الدرالمختار بیروت ۱؍۴۴۲، زکریا ۱؍۵۰۹-۴۱۰، فتاویٰ محمودیہ ۷؍۲۱)
