What advice can you give to a friend whose husband dislikes her growing back her eyebrows?

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftisays.com
Asalaamu alaikum, My friend is married and her husband does not find her attractive when she decided to grow her eyebrows back, he even tries to pluck it himself, he said she has to please him so that he doent look else where, I told her that there is no obedience in the disobedience in the creator but she says she feels less attractive too for her husband, what can u advise her to do?

Answer
Answer

In the name of Allah the Most Merciful

Inshallah may Allah make the situation uncomplicated and coercion free upon your friend.

To trim the eye brows in the way that the ladies of other cultures and religions do is forbidden on the Muslim. Both males and females, it is stated in Ahsanul fatawa Vol 8, that if the eye brows become so dense that it is unnatural to look at then there is permissibility to cut them to such an extent that is appears normal. (Please refer to the previous answers regarding the explanation of this).

You are correct in saying that there is no obedience to the creation where there is disobedience to the Creator. I feel that in this case the husband should not place his entire life and marriage on the foundation of how his wifes eyebrows appear. Allah has put beauty in the things which in modern societies we are made to believe are unattractive.

As a word of console to your friend and to all Muslims I can say that we should remember that Allah Ta’ala has said in the Magnificent Quran,

O you who believe! Seek help with Sabr (patience) and Salaah. Verily Allah is with those who are patient”. (Surah Baqarah, Ayah 153 )

Rasulullah Sallallahu Alaihi Wassalm has said, “Dua (supplication) is the essence of worship“.(Tirmizi)

And Allah the Creator of All knows best
