How can I seek forgiveness for a sin I committed after performing Umrah?

Answer:

In the name of Allah the Most Forgiving

Allah the Exalted says in the Noble Quran,

“Say (O Muhammad to my Servants): “O my Servants who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the Mercy of Allah: for Allah forgives all sins: for He is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful. (Surah Zumar Verse 53)

It is further said in a Hadith narrated from Abu Hurairah that: “Rasulullah said, “Whoever says, ‘Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi,’ one hundred times a day, will be forgiven all his sins even if they were as much as the foam of the sea. (Bukhari 8.414)

It is narrated from Abu Bakr As-Siddiq: I asked Rasulullah to teach me an invocation so that I may invoke Allah with it in my prayer. He told me to say, “Allahumma inni zalumtu nafsi zulman kathiran, Wala yaghfiru dh-dhunuba illa anta, fa ghfir li maghfiratan min `indika, wa r-hamni, innaka anta l-ghafuru r-rahim

(O Allah! I have done great injustice to myself and none except You forgives sins, so bestow on me a forgiveness from You, and Have Mercy on me, You are the Forgiver, the Merciful). Bukhari 1.796

We are also reminded by the greatest of mankind that the blessed month of Ramadan is (which is soon to dawn upon us) is an opportune time for us to reap blessings and virtues.

As narrated by Abu Hurairah that : Rasulullah said: “Whoever establishes prayers during the nights of Ramadhan faithfully out of sincere faith and hoping to attain Allah’s rewards (not for showing off), all his past sins will be forgiven.” (Bukhari 1.36)

This is just one in many Ahaadith which relate to the virtues of Ramadhan. We should never loose hope in Allah’s infinite mercy and always seek his forgiveness. But don’t ever repeat or return to the sin again.
