Decoding the Names of Sahaabah: Al-Mugheerah, Al-Ahnaf, Al-Aqra’, Al-Lajlaaj, and Al-Irbaad

Q: Are the following Sahaabah and what do these names mean? Al-Mugheerah, Al-Ahnaf, Al-Aqra’? Also Al-Lajlaaj and Al-Irbaad?

Bismillaah

A: Mugheerah – The one who attacks.

Ahnaf – one who is totally straight and not deviated.

Aqra` – means the one who knocks down, perhaps the one who knocks down wrong.

Lajlaaj – means the one who stutters.

Irbaadh – means a huge camel.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
