Anxiety and Wudu: Dealing with Doubts During Salaah

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. Quite frequently while performing salaah, I hold my wind in and while doing so, there is a sound from my anus but wind is not released and there is no smell, when this happens, is my wudhu broken?

2. While performing salaah, if I hold my wind and there is a sound from anus but no smell and I’m uncertain if wind is released, must I repeat my wudhu? ( I have a major problem with doubts) Please assist as it is affecting the quality of my salaah.

Bismillaah

A:

1. No.

2. If you are not certain that your wudhu has broken, then regard yourself to be in the state of wudhu.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
