Muslim advertising the sale of rats, mice, snakes, etc.

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

(1) Is it permissible for a Muslim to advertise the sale of rats, mice, and the items used for their keeping (e.g: sawdust, breeding cages, specialized water-feeders etc.)? Maybe they could also be purchased for feeding snakes, owls, hawks and genets etc. by a Zoo or veterinarian.

(2) Is it permissible for a Muslim to advertise the sale of snakes? [In both instances above, the Muslim advertiser is advertising for free and will not receive any remuneration from anyone.]

Bismillaah

A:

1. It is permissible provided the means one is using to advertise is a halaal means and there is nothing impermissible associated with it (e.g. The pictures of the animals are being displayed or it is advertised on TV).

2. As above.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
