Permissibility of Naming: Barrah and Arham for Boys

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Are we allowed to keep the name barrah. I read it’s not permissible. Is that correct and also what is the meaning of barrah and can the name Arham be kept for a boy?

A: You should avoid keeping these names.

Bareerah is the fruit of the arak tree.

Rather keep the name Aslam.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
