Q: Is it permissible for a male to go to the gym to build his muscles? Not to show off but just to be strong.
A: Generally, the environment of a gym is in contrast to Islamic teachings. There is music, intermingling of sexes, scantily dressed women, etc. Hence, a Muslim should refrain from such areas.
And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
