Deceased hearing after death

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q:

1. From the time a person passes away till he is buried, does the mayyit perceive what is happening around him?

2. What happens to the ruh?

3. Can the dead person hear/perceive anything (from outside) whilst they are in their grave?

Bismillaah

A:

1. If Allah Ta`ala wills then the deceased can hear.

2. The rooh is thereafter transported to the realm that it belongs to. If it belongs to Jannah then it is shown the honour, respect, comfort and ease.

3. If Allah Ta`ala wills then he can.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
