Having Rahmaan only as a surname

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: I have been blessed with a boy and a girl. We want to name them Faiyaz Rahman and Muntaha Rahman respectively. Is this permissible to have Rahman as a surname?

Bismillaah

A: Rahman should be part of the name and not the surname alone. It should have a prefix.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
