Renting out a house to a Hindu

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: We have given a portion of our house on rent as it is very big and very difficult to clean and maintain it. Our tenant who is a Hindu does his prayers according to his beliefs. I want to know whether it is ok or not not as the building is the same but the portion on rent is totally separate.

Bismillaah

A: The rent you earn is for leasing a portion of the house to him for residing. Hence the rent is halaal. You are not responsible and answerable for the prayers he does in his section of the house.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
