Reciting Qur’an from transliteration

Answered as per Hanafi Fiqh by Muftionline.co.za

Q: Is it permissible to memorise surahs by reading their English transliteration if I can’t find someone who can teach me how to read arabic?

Bismillaah

A: It is not permissible to recite the Quran in any other language besides Arabic. Hence, you should refrain from reciting the Quran from the English transliteration. If you cannot get anyone to teach you, then you may purchase CDs of Qaaris and listen to their recitation.

And Allah Ta’ala (الله تعالى) knows best.
